Carl Marlinga Formally Announces Run for Michigan State Senate

Democrat to Focus on Economy, Education and Environment

Utica, MI – Yesterday evening, Carl Marlinga, attorney and former Macomb County Prosecutor, announced his formal candidacy for the District 10 seat of the Michigan State Senate. He revealed his intentions at the home of Monica Malewicz, Roseville resident and Marlinga supporter. This will be Marlinga’s first run for the Senate, and his campaign platform will focus on the state’s educational system, and how to harness various environmental resources to boost Michigan’s economy.

Marlinga announced his candidacy in front of two-dozen people, during an intimate, informal neighborhood meeting. He chose this type of grassroots effort to announce his bid for the Senate seat because, as he says, “it’s nice to be able to sit and chat with people who want to talk about issues.” Marlinga plans to host many more local neighborhood meetings in the coming months. He feels these small gatherings are the best way to get to know his constituents, and obtain genuine feedback that will help fuel his campaign.

“Michigan has a lot of promise, but also a lot of difficulties,” Marlinga said. “My goal is to make Michigan known not only as a beautiful state, but a state with the best schools and greatest environmental technology capabilities.”

Marlinga’s overall platform has been dubbed the “Triple E Campaign.” He feels the Michigan’s suffering economy can be greatly helped by streamlining and bettering the State’s educational system, and by attracting new businesses wanting to invest in environmental technology.

Macomb County Commissioner, Phil DiMaria, attended the event Monday night. He said, “I am supporting Carl because I know he represents the best opportunities for all of the people in the 10th District, and the State of Michigan.”

At the Malewicz home, Marlinga answered several questions about taxes, Michigan’s prison system, unemployment, harnessing solar and wind power, as well as the financial hardships faced by Michigan’s homeowners. Marlinga plans to formally outline his response to these issues in the coming months.
